THANK YOU ACADIANA!

Thank you for your support on Saturday, March 15th in helping us make Komen Acadiana history.  We are pleased to announce that there were 6,117 registered participants for this year's race...the largest since our inception and the largest 5K event in Acadiana!

Due to the support of these participants, local sponsors and volunteers, Komen Acadiana is awarding $227,190 in grants in 2008 for local breast cancer education, screening, and treatment programs to Miles Perret Cancer Services, Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, Opelousas General Health System, Acadiana Medical Research Foundation, Acadia Council on Aging & Faith House.

In addition, $85,087 will support the Komen for the Cure National Award and Research Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research.  Second to the government, Komen is the largest provider of research grants in the United States.  Komen headquarters only funds breast cancer research grants.
