Komen Acadiana Grants Up to 75% of the funds raised from the Komen Acadiana Race for the Cure and other local events remain in our service area to provide funding for services targeted to further the Komen promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. Any non-profit organization which provides breast cancer and breast health services within the Komen Acadiana service area (Acadia, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes) is eligible to apply for grants from the Komen Acadiana Affiliate for programs providing services for screening, treatment and education. In late October or early November of each year, the Komen Acadiana affiliate makes grant applications available to the public. The completed applications are due in mid-January. Upon receipt of the applications, the Grant Committee will review each application for compliance. Each application which meets all requirements is then forwarded to our independent grant review panel. The review panel then rates each application. Based upon the scoring of the review panel and depending upon fund availability, the Komen Acadiana Board of Directors votes on the applications. The Board of Directors makes its decision by the end of March and announcements are made thereafter. Once grant contracts are executed, the first half of each grant is issued at the beginning of August. Each grant recipient is required to submit a mid year grant report as well as a final report.
